The 2024 Pinot Noir has come together beautifully. The cherry stone and ripe strawberry fragrance is underpinned by rhubarb, herbal and spice complexity. The palate’s creamy and juicy palate is balanced by a fine sinewy tannin thread. Finishes with cherry, roasted nuts, and earthy minerality.

  The Thunderstone Pinot Noir is from a special site that has been developed over 20 years. The vineyard is the result of many years of observation, experimentation, creativity and vision from the family that own and manage a special piece of dirt on the eastern end of the Porongurup ranges. There are now 5 clones planted which express in unique and complementary ways to build Pinot Noir of exceptional grace and complexity.

• Winemaking

  We utilized the 114 and 777 clones in the 2024 Thunderstone Pinot Noir. Hand picked, we then destemmed the 114 clone into an open top tank for wild fermentation. The 777 was loaded into its tank as whole bunches and underwent carbonic maceration (100% whole bunches). After pressing each component was separately matured in French oak, mostly 500L puncheons.

Has the presence to match a mushroom risotto, but charred quail also comes to mind.
